Listen To Robert Smith’s Alice In Wonderland Song

I’ve been waiting for this movie since the first time I heard whispers of it possibly being made, and its March 5th opening date can’t get here fast enough.
It has such potential to blow our minds wide open. So, it is with much regret that I say to you that I think the soundtrack bah-lows.
Why? Read on…
The movie itself is still bound for greatness in my book, but I am a little offended at the musical selections.
Granted, I have not heard the soundtrack in its entirety, nor have I seen the songs as they’re placed in the movie, so I’m being a bit premature in loathing it the why that I do, but I am not at all pleased with the “artists” on the soundtrack. I tend to be the rock chick around here, so maybe I was hoping for heavier, darker and more twisted. Neither Avril Lavigne nor Owl City fall under those categories.
Usually I am not one to judge anything unless I have experienced it for myself. Usually. In the case of the Alice In Wonderland soundtrack, I almost can’t bear to hear it. I kind of sort of really dislike little miss Avril and she happens to be on it. With that said, the one artist I CANNOT overlook is Robert Smith. Now there’s an artist on the soundtrack that makes sense.
Robert Smith’s contribution is a song called “Very Good Advice“. I just heard it for the first time. It’s trippy and swirly and the actual song sounds like IT is on drugs. I don’t like it, but I want to see it in the movie before I bury it completely. Take a listen and then please divulge some of your thoughts.
I don’t give a flying cat whether or not this is a Disney movie, there is NO excuse for that soundtrack. Owl City AND Shinedown?
Who is smoking what?

Well its called being open to music and trying new things lol I actually LOVE the All American Rejects track, or from what I heard at least. (by that — I am being bias. I’ve been a Rejects fan for almost 9 years now lol) However, I do agree with the artist chosen. No offense to any of them, but they do not fit the “mood/vibe” of the tale. I mean it would’ve been awesome if like other bands did this.

Nicole, yea the soundtrack selections suck. There is a song with Mark Hoppus and Pete Simpson from, the now defunct and thankfully so, Fall Out Boy (the song suuuuckkks soooooo bad)
This song is actually pretty good though. It fits the mood and all that for me.
As a side note, I don’t want the movie to suck but let’s be honest, Tim Burton’s interpretations of classics are very one note and predictable and as a result, just horrible by comparison. I’m into them for about a month and then they just DON’T stand the test of time. So I would not be surprised if this film follows that pattern.
And this is Alice in Wonderland not the Mad Hatter movie. Johnny Depp is being used as a gimmick nowadays, just as in the promotion for Public Enemies and the Pirates films. It’s sad and I don’t want Hollywood to oversaturate a great talent like him. He tried to escape being a “product” in his 21 Jump Street Days and now he IS a PRODUCT and noone says anything. Just me???

I am willing to be open, after all it IS a Tim Burton creation and he usually doen no wrong by me, but…I think we are all on the same and it’s a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling ain’t it. Let’s all meet back here when the movie comes out and discuss further. Agreed?

I don’t like this song from Robert Smith. Or Owl City and I can not stand Shinedown. I hope the movie is done really good but as of late Tim Burton hasn’t been doing all that great. It started with Corpse Bride and slowly going down hill from there.

Movie looks great, but the soundtrack totally sucks.
Hopefully the Film will just feature the great work of Danny Elfman
and they could leave these other crappy songs on a separate soundtrack and out of the film.

At first I thought ok, this is different, kind of reminded me a bit of WEEN, and I kept waiting for it to get better, a good chorus or different melody, but then it started molesting my ears so I shut it off. Really really hate the entire soundtrack, it is just sad sad, it really needs something different, it feels like every song was just thrown together after therapy and bad drugs. I would love to hear the white stripes, WEEN, even Bjork would be a lot more fitting than Avril Lavigne

To understand the song and it’s composition – you must understand who Robert Smith is and the history of his music. It’s a perfect representation of this newest reproduction of a classic tale. The story itself is a bit “trippy” and though coined as a children’s classic – has drug induced undertones. I have always been a huge cure fan and I am very excited for Robert’s contribution and interpretation.
