Tenacious D – Will F*ck You Gently…
…and do it for Haiti. Last night Jack Black and Kyle Gass once again answered the call and assembled an outstanding lineup of musicians and comedians to entertain all in the name of raising money for Haiti.
During Tenacious D‘s thunderous *acoustic* set, Ben Stiller crashed the party when he rode in on a mega-giant drum kit playing like he was in Cheap Trick live at Budokan.
The D stopped their set and kicked Ben out of the band.
Will Ferrell made an early appearance in the night and apologized for not having time to come up with a routine so he chose to resurrect his sixth-grade performance of the popcorn dance. Enjoy.
We were treated to excellent sets by comics Tig, Bob Odenkirk and Patton Oswalt with the D always present announcing every artist.
One of my most favorite musicians of all time Frank Black of Pixies came out and rocked it. My face nearly melted off when he performed his solo song “Los Angeles” and then went into Pixies “Where is My Mind.” Check it out.
Not only were we treated to a stand-up set by Russell Brand but he came out and joined Jason Segel on their awesome song “Inside of You” which you probably know from Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

The Shins frontman James Mercer performed a few songs using that angelic voice to turn us all into swooning fools.

There were so many great moments last night and all for a good cause. I elect Tenacious D for an honorary Rock n Roll Nobel Peace Prize.

I learned that lame ‘Popcorn Dance’ in grade school too! I had no idea it was taught county wide. I remembered most of it but not the complete routine as performed by Mr. Ferrell. Hilarious!! Talk about a flashback!! Oh and thanks for the Pixies today Kat, you rock my world!
