Apple CEO and guru of all things awesome revealed the newest technology revelation from Apple today, the iPad.  Despite sounding like Apples answer to feminine hygiene it’s everything geeks everywhere have been dreaming of.

Here’s the deal:

  • iPad owners will be able use iPhone apps, download & listen to music, use maps, watch HD video, browse the web & more.  With a ten hour battery life it doesn’t sound too shabby.
  • It starts off at $499, which is pricier than the Kindle, but also offers more.

This is causing a fever in the geek community.  311 lead singer Nick Hexum tweeted, “I want an iPad.”  We’re guessing that won’t be the first time we’ll hear someone exclaiming that.

However, the funniest comment we’ve heard about the iPad came from skating legend Tony Hawk’s twitter, “Is the iPad the equivalent of putting rims on your Kindle? Doesn’t matter, I’ll still want one.”

Most likely Apple will do what it does best, and put Kindle out of business.  It was good while it lasted, but I guess when you start seeing people pawn off their Kindle for next to nothing on Craigslist we’ll know for sure.

This thing, has no multitasking, no ability to play flash, adapters for everything (including an adapter to plug in a USB!). Will only run “approved” apple apps. Bleh!

“This is causing a fever in the geek community.” Yup, the same way the H1N1 caused a fever in the health community. This is the same apple crap: more expensive, and less capable. Get off their nuts, and take a critical look at this.

I was really disappointed. I guess I’m going to have to wait for the iTampon. I have high expectations for that since i think the iPad failed to impress me.
