In light of this week’s Haiti news, California actually fared pretty well a few days ago with its 6.5 earthquake near Eureka. Sure, Humboldt County sustained millions of dollars of damages but human injury was minimal because we have building codes and whatnot.
There’s lots of interesting security camera footage from the temblor but the footage that has been discussed most has been this tape of Sophie, a dog lounging in the newsroom of the Time Standard newspaper, in the seconds before the shaking starts.
Lesson to be learned: Have a dog in every room so that you at least you get a few seconds heads-up in the event of an earthquake! Good girl!
