Phoenix Up Yer ‘Pod!
So, backstage at ACX, I handed Laurent Brancowitz of Phoenix (a most cool human, may I add) an iPod and asked him to throw together an ON THE GO playlist from whatever he found -
and in the 15 minutes we had he came up with ten in this order -
1. ARCADIA – ‘Election Day’ (1985)
2. BO DIDDLEY – ‘Bo Diddley’ (1957)
3. BUDDY HOLLY – ‘Peggy Sue’ (1957)
(Makes sense – Laurent sorta reminds one of Buddy!)
4. THE BUZZCOCKS – ‘Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t've?) (1978) (Pete Shelley RULES!)
5. D’ANGELO – ‘Untitled (How Does It Feel?)’ (2000)
6. DONOVAN – ‘Hurdy Gurdy Man’ (1968)
7. JONI MITCHELL – ‘Both Sides Now’ (1969)
8. MY BLOODY VALENTINE – ‘Sometimes’ (1991)
9. ? & THE MYSTERIANS – ’96 Tears’ (1966)
10. THE PIXIES – ‘Gouge Away’ (1989)
I’ve got a massive variety of stuff on my ‘Pod – but my BIG ‘Pod took a nasty tumble a couple weeks ago and just sits dark and dead now, so he didn’t have any Classical to choose from! That would have proved VERY interesting! To end the list with my favorite band ever, however, rocked.
