Weezer Gets RAD With “Raditude”
Weezer gets back to basics with their “Raditude” album. Guitarist Brian Bell told MTV.com, “It’s very upbeat and it’s fun and exciting and hopefully a bit unique. It’s definitely getting back to the rock element of Weezer that might have been lost for a second.
It’s kind of taking the ‘Blue Album’ and mixing it with ‘Pinkerton’ and then throwing in some of ‘Maladroit.’ The tempos are faster for sure.” The group is also opening up to outside songwriters for the first time in their career, welcoming Jermaine Dupri, All-American Rejects’ Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler, pop songwriter Dr. Luke, and co-producer Butch Walker to all take a shot at providing Weezer songs.
Bell says that with Rivers Cuomo is singing vocals on all the tracks and the help of outside songwriters, he managed to hold on to a few ideas for his upcoming solo project, The Relationship. But Weezer comes first, and the band will release their “Raditude” album October 27th.
