Dengue Fever: Sleepwalking Through The MeKong

I am often asked about what music is playing in my house and usually either can’t remember what I’m listening to or can’t think of anything off the top of my head that the person asking might enjoy also.
I’ve long admired, but have recently gone crazy for the band Dengue Fever, a Los Angeles based Cambodian-American group whose songs are just mesmerizing and addictive. Every track on this album is great.
Sleepwalking Through The Mekong is their recently released combo music/DVD package that I almost literally can’t stop listening to. It seems like every time the record ends I get up and start it again. I also wonder if I would enjoy it not as much or even more if I spoke Asian*.
Please enjoy the title track here:
*yeah, i know.

You can’t speak “asian” but if you understood what she was singing in cambodian, you’d love this song even more. It’s haunting and beautiful at the same time. She’s mourning the lost of someone who chose to forget about her and left her miserable. Great choice Bean!!!
