Long Beach-via-Fullerton Locals Only legends Cold War Kids had a few big announcements recently. First was news out of the band’s camp that original guitarist Jonnie Russell decided to part ways with the band and head back to school. Former Modest Mouse guitarist Dann Gallucci joins the band in time for CWKs to start on album No.-4 “that [CWKs] will do for the first time in our own studio in San Pedro with Dann as guitar player and producer.”
Nathan Willet and Co. also dropped “Minimum Day/Minimum Mistake,” “A-side/B-side” style single, over on their web site for free. The A-side, “Minimum Day,” is quintessential CWK’s — scuzzy, bouncy bass lines and big, jangley old-school guitar.
But I’m burying the lead here — the video features interpretive dance from an extremely attractive, tattooed, nose-ringed woman just feeling both songs. Watch Minimum Day right here.

As we’re sure you have heard, Whitney Houston died last week. Since her untimely death, Houston has been blaring from car stereos everywhere, the media has inundated the public with tributes in her honor, and countless covers have appeared online. Heck, even KROQ’s Bean mentioned Houston in his latest Bean’s Death Corner.
“
I Just learned this, so when I mess it up, just forgive me.
”
Chris Cornell
We, however, found a Whitney related piece that’s really worth giving a listen to. On February 16, during a private fundraising concert for President Obama held in San Francisco, Soundgarden front man Chris Cornell performed an amazing acoustic cover of Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” which is a cover of Dolly Parton.
Before he begins, Cornell is heard muttering, “I Just learned this, so when I mess it up, just forgive me.” It takes the audience a second to recognize what he is singing, but as soon as they do, applause fills the auditorium. Cornell may have been afraid of “messing it up,” but his fears are unfounded. From the crowd’s response, he delivers.
Phil Keoghan stopped by and pledged to help Beer Mug lose weight.
On today’s Kevin & Bean show: John and Ken get suspended over Whitney Houston comments, Dr. Mo talks about KLN, Beer Mug is going bald, Amazing Race Host Phil Keoghan, The Movie Beat with Mr. Moviefone, Adam Carolla and more.

Will you be seeing these fine fellas at the Palladium Saturday night? If so, and you meet up with them in their backstage dressing you, why you can have your cake and eat it too! See, ’cause… Here they be with the classic Frank Sinatra ditty as they did it LIVE on Letterman.Watch the video here
Tom Hardy and Chris Pine in This Means War
With Ralph Garman out again this week, Mr. Moviefone, Russ Leatherman, steps back in to fill the Movie Beat shoes. Opening in theaters this week are This Means War, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, and The Secret World Of Arrietty.
This Means War:
Mr. Moviefone: You’ve got Chris Pine and Tom Hardy, who are super hunky, right? Plus, there’s Reese Witherspoon. Everybody loves Reese. This is sort of a spy vs. spy. You have these two guys, they’re spies, they realize they’ve fallen for the same woman, and they kind of agree to play fair. Then all the rules go out the window, and some creepy surveillance techniques come into play.

Foo Fighters Rock The 54th Annual…Dave Grohl posted on the Foo Fighters’ Facebook page and gave fans an update on his experiences at the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards last Sunday.
“
Never has a 33 second acceptance rant evoked such caps-lock postboard rage as my lil' ode to analog recording has.
”
“Oh, what a night we had last Sunday at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. The glitz! The Glamour! SEACREST! Where do I begin?? Chillin’ with Lil’ Wayne…meeting Cyndi Lauper’s adorable mother…the complimentary blinking Coldplay bracelet…..much too much to recap. It’s really is still a bit of a blur. But, if there’s one thing that I remember VERY clearly, it was accepting the Grammy for Best Rock Performance…and then saying this:
“To me this award means a lot because it shows that the human element of music is what’s important. Singing into a microphone and learning to play an instrument and learning to do your craft, that’s the most important thing for people to do… It’s not about being perfect, it’s not about sounding absolutely correct, it’s not about what goes on in a computer. It’s about what goes on in here [your heart] and what goes on in here [your head].”

Skrillex won big at the 2012 GRAMMYs, racking up 3 awards including Best Dance/Electronica Album.
Sonny Moore, AKA Skrillex, is now riding that high with a brand new video for “Bangarang,” the title track from his latest E.P. It’s an eye-catching miss mash of ice cream trucks, lost boys, and electro beats directed by Tony T. Datis.

It’s the President’s Day edition of Nothin’ but the 90′s Weekend, and for this special event, we wanted your help with one very important question. What question, you may ask? Read on…
In the world of Rock, we often like to break down eras by the decade. Since Rock’s birth in the 50′s, every decade seems to have its unique identity, from the Psychedelic 60′s to the New Wave 80′s.
Every era has spawned countless classic bands, and the 90′s were no exception. Bands like, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Green Day, and Blink-182 (just to name a few) remain just as active and influential today as they were during the 90′s.
Using your input from past polls, we’ve taken the songs KROQ played during the decade and narrowed it down to an elite list of the top twenty-five songs of the 90′s. The question: Which song was the best/most defining?
The rest is now up to you. Take a look at the list below and vote for your favorite song. The poll will be open all weekend, and come Tuesday, we’ll find out which song will be named, “Best Song of the 90′s.”
Think you know which song will claim the throne? Vote and find out!Click here to cast your vote!

We found out this week that Beer Mug had started to take Propecia because he was worried about losing his hair. But come on, if it works for Jason Statham, it’ll work for him right? In the photo above we put Jason’s hair on Mugs. Ladies, does it really matter if a guy is balding? Do you have a preference?
